I am proud to announce the long-awaited release of the Humanity MOO database!
To run the database, you must have a Gamma MOO server with outbound networking enabled. File IO is also recommended but not required. The database can be downloaded from http://billkd.deaddogcafe.ch/hm.db

And what exactly is this database?

It's a MOO database for use with the Gamma MOO server. It's everything you'll ever need to create a Miriani clone. I personally do not use it because I wish to create something that doesn't copy every other space MOO.

Wow. I haven't been so baffled by words in a while.:) Apparently I shall need to research what most of that means.:)

And isn't this illegal?

Forzano likes to say it's copyright. He simply wants to defend the database he released and that i'm posting up here. Look, Mike. Don't post things if you don't want people downloading them.

oo. niceness. and the only way something like a moo DB is coppyrited, then put something in it saying this is mine. otherwise course people are gona get it and change it and build off of it. i know of 3 or 4 or 5 games like miriani but different, all going by cosmos, but gaah, SC, cosmos, miriani, if you've played one you've played them all. no wonder i'm dead set on miriani cuz it was the first and everything else is. well benen there done that. lol.

one disagrees, The Elemental Dragon. imho miriani was not the first, indeed miriani could be called a clone of sc.
but aye,now miriani and sc are quite different from each other, different features and all.

few things:
first, the database isn't copyright. The original authors of the Humanity MOO database took only a few weeks at most to write the thing just based on the quality of the code. Mike claims he spent two years working on it, highly unlikely.

second, the link is now dead due to complaints from my domain registrar. If anyone does want it, pm me for details.

third, it's a Miriani clone. I ran a Miriani clone, unsuccessfully, back in 2011. It failed miserably. So, my advice, fun thing to play offline, but hosting a live game isn't a great idea. Space Zone is an attempt at a space-based MOO without cloning Miriani. No, not saying to clone SZ or my other games which are being developed, but to come up with new ideas for a space based MOO(a new space system that doesn't clone miriani, new activities, everything) and that might be a good MOO to play.
